Description
Late 18th-1st quarter 19th century, pine. Two piece stepback cupboard with square and some rosehead nails. Top has two paneled doors over eighteen drawers, base has eleven drawers over two paneled doors. Dovetailed drawers have traces of old painted and paper labels, replaced pulls. Top has interior shelves and dovetailed top section. Red overpaint and several drawers have labels of various ages including Winchester repeater shells and car seals. One drawer has "R.T. Lewis", presumably the maker. Overall wear and most drawers have pieced repairs to top edges and some missing pulls and added or removed dividers. 74"h. 42.5"w. 18.5"d.Displayed in the Williamsburg Apothecary Shop, acquired in 1965. Deaccessioned and sold through Christie's. In current owner's possession since 1998.
