Wool on linen. Alphabets, flowers and church with "Made by Mary Cassidy at the Sisters of Notre Dame". Additional "Mary" in cross stitch below. Framed, 18"h. 22.25"w. Sold at Garth's.Copies of letters by Sue Studebaker, author of "Ohio Schoolgirl Embroideries" included. In one she notes that Mary was probably Mary Cassidy, married to Patrick Riley, ca. 1840 in Hamilton County and that the Sisters of Notre Dame was started 1840 in Cincinnati.
